Marilyn Williams
Marilyn first started making pots at an Adult Education Class over 25 years ago. Then in 1990 she did her diploma in ceramics at Wandsworth College and was hooked. She set up her own studio and started making functional pottery. She uses both earthenware and stoneware clays throwing them on a continental momentum wheel. A lot of her decoration and forms are inspired by her drawings of birds. Marilyn also makes tiles and tile reliefs and has been involved in many workshops making tile murals with children and adults. She is part of a local art group called SEAS (South East ArtistS). They organise exhibitions, Open Studios and a regular Saturday art and craft fair in Deal where she markets her work. She moved to Walmer, Kent in 2004 and living by the sea is slowly beginning to influence her work.
